Wild Police Chase in Southern California Results in Multiple Crashes and Injuries

Southern California saw quite the chaotic police chase on Wednesday, November 9th, when a man committed several traffic violations, but did not stop for police when encountered. The suspect stole two vehicles and crashed into multiple cars and police SUVs. Those crashes resulted in three people being hospitalized.

Bobby Bostic Released on Parole after 27 Years of Imprisonment

In 1995, 16-year-old Missouri native Bobby Bostic was arrested as an accomplice to two armed robberies and sentenced to 241 years in prison. However, in 2021 new legislation was passed that allowed Bostic to be eligible for parole. Just on Wednesday, November 9th Bostic was released.

Interactions between Civilians and Police could Improve through Police Diversity

A study by Princeton researchers that debuted in 2021 found that diversity within police departments could improve how police treat civilians. The study explained how increased racial, ethnic, and gender diversity within the police can result in the decrease of police mistreatment of minority groups and communities.

Child Safety Leaders in NC to Continue to Advocate for Safe Gun Storage

On Monday, Child Safety leaders in North Carolina claim to continue to advocate for an educational program that would promote safe gun storage. The state Senate refused to consider the bill, but child safety leaders plan to try again in 2023.

Rehab Staff Member Sold Drugs to Those Seeking Treatment

In a Robeson County rehab center, a staff member was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to sell or deliver cocaine, among other charges. According to the police, there had been complaints from those within the program about a recent graduate preying on their addiction.

Police Officer Fired as a Result of Using a Racial Slur on Camera

Last month, Cincinnati police officer Rose Valentino was removed from the force after the April incident in which her body camera captured her using a racial slur. It was recommended that she be put on a 56-hour suspension, but Police Chief Theetge rejected this recommendation.

Police Killings Decline After Black Lives Matter Protests

A 2021 study found that in most cities where Black Lives Matter protests occurred, police killings declined (as much as 20%), depicting a correlation between protests and desired change. The increase in body cams and community-policing initiatives were also correlated with these protests.
